Salaatunnabi (Durood) recited
by Hadrat Sayyadina UWAIS QARNI
TO ALL OUR BELOVED READERS ALL OVER THE WORLD 'EEDUL ADHAA
MUBAARAK. TO THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE ON YOUR WAY TO PERFORM HAJJ OF THE HOUSE OF ALLAAH, MAY
YOUR HAJJ RECEIVE TOTAL ACCEPTANCE BY THE ONE AND ONLY LORD OF THE UNIVERSE THE MOST
COMPASSIONATE FOR WHOSE PLEASURE YOU ARE TAKING ON YOUR JOURNEY. AAMEEN.
The aspect of opening the window of Paradise, this is what happens: First a window on the left side (Hell fire) is opened and its heat will be felt and the foul odor smelt. The window will be quickly closed and the from the right (The window of Paradise) will be opened and it will be said: If you had not answered correctly, for you would have been the first one; but now it is this one. Now (the dead person) will know the favor of his Lord, and how he has been saved from the terrible misfortune and is now a fortunate recipient of a tremendous gift!
For a munaafiq (hypocrite) it would be the opposite. For him the
window of Paradise would be opened first so that he could get a taste of the perfume,
sweet smell and the gift of comfort. Abruptly the window will be closed and the window of
the Hell Fire will be opened so that along with the greatest misfortune he could also
experience intense dismay of what a great gift has been lost by not accepting the beloved
of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
as the
Messenger of the One and only Lord of the Universe. If the dead person is a munaafiq, to
all the questions he would respond: "Haah haah Laa adree" (Alas I do not
know anything)."Kuntu asm'aun naasu yaqooloona saian fa aqoolu"
Translation: "I heard people saying and I myself used to say." At that time a
caller from the skies will call out that he is a liar . Prepare for him a bed of fire and
put on him clothes of fire. Open for him a door from the Hell so that he is enveloped in
the heat that will reach him. Then in order to torture him two angels will be appointed
who would be deaf and blind. They will wield a huge spiked iron ball which if it were to
strike a mountain it will become dust. They will keep striking the unfortunate person with
this iron ball. Serpents and scorpions will also torture him.
'Azaab ul Qabr (Punishment of the grave)
Punishment of the grave as well as gifts of ease and comfort is Haq
(the truth). It will be experienced both by the body as well as the Rooh (soul). The body
may have been burnt to ashes or consumed by the earth, its original ingredients remain
till the Day of Judgment and these are the ones which be the recipients of the punishment
and the rewards. These are the ingredients with which the bodies will be reassembled on
the Day of Judgment. These ingredients are located in the vertebrae. They are invisible to
even the most powerful microscope (or any human made instruments and devices). Neither can
fire burn them nor can the earth consume them. They are called ''Ujub uz zunub" These
are "seeds" of the body hence on the Day of Judgment the return of the soul will
be in this body not in any other body. Increase or decrease of the external parts of a
body do not change the body. One can see how the small body of a child grows up and
becomes quite large and this large body with serious illness, can shrink, waste and become
small again. After health is regained, it enlarges again. It cannot be said that because
of these changes the person himself has become different. On the Day of Judgment is the
return; the same bones and flesh although they may have become ashes and dispersed far and
wide, Allaah
will gather them together around the
original ingredients and every soul will re enter the previous body. This is the Hashr.
If a dead body has not been buried, where ever it was left lying, it will be questioned at the same spot and will also receive punishment or rewards at that spot. Even if he were to be eaten up by a tiger, his questioning, punishment or rewards will take place in the stomach of the tiger.
The bodies of the prophets and messengers of Allaah
, the Auliaa (saints), of Allaah
, the 'Ulamaa (scholars) of the Deen, the martyrs, Huffaaz
(memorizers) of the Holy Quraan, who put into practice the tenets of the Holy Quraan, and
those who did not sin against their Lord
and those who
spent their time in reciting Durood Shareef (Salaatun Nabee) upon the beloved of Allaah,
will not and cannot be consumed by the earth. (All of the
substance of this chapter have been taken from the well known and greatly respected book
"Bahaar-e-Sharee'at" by Hadrat Maulaanaa Amjad 'Ali Rahmatullaah 'Alaih)

When you are overtaken by any illness or misfortune
Hadrat Aboo Hurairah

narrated: I came out with the beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
with his (blessed) hand in mine or mine in his. He
came upon a person who was in a bad condition. The beloved of
Allaah
said: O (such and such person), this condition (of
weakness)of yours; how did happen? The person replied: Because of illness and pain. The
beloved of Allaah,
then said: Should I not teach you such
words (by reciting which) your illness and pain will be removed? At this Hadrat Aboo
Hurairah humbly submitted: O Rasoolallaah
Will you not teach
me (those words? (please teach me). At this, he
said: O Aboo
Hurairah say:
Transliteration: "Tawakkaltu 'alal hayyil ladhee laa yamootu wal hamdu lillaahil ladhee lam yattakhidh waladan walam yakullahoo shareekun fil mulki walam yakullahoo waliyyum minadh dhulli wa kabbirhu takbeeraa"
Translation: I have trusted that Being who is perfectly
alive, Who does not die and all praise is for Allaah
Who has no children neither has He any partners in His Kingship nor does He need any
helpers because of any weakness; and recount His Greatness abundantly.
Hadrat Aboo Hurairah
says that
another day the beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
asked at the place of this man: How did you get well? That person
said: O Rasoolallaah
The words you taught me, I kept
reciting them. (Mustadrak Haakim, Tarteeb Shareef page 150)
When there is body ache
Hadrat 'Uamaan bin Abil 'Aas
has
narrated that the beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
visited him. He was in pain
and it was so severe (I was thinking) I would soon die. The beloved of Allaah
said: Rub your right hand (over your body) 7 times and recite:
Translation: "I seek the protection of Allaah's Prestige, His Power, His Dominance and His Kingship from the evil of my pain"
Transliteration: " 'Audhu bi'Izzatillaahi wa qudratihee wa sultaanihee min sharri maa ajidu."
Hadrat 'Usmaan
continues, I did
just that and Allaah
removed the pain I had. Afterwards
I always instructed members of my house hold and others to do the same. This is a Hasan
Sahee hadeeth. Tirmidhee Shareef,Tarteeb Shareef Pg. 152
Ta'weedh for Fever
Hadrat Yoonus bin Habaab
has
narrated: I sought permission from Hadrat Aboo Ja'far Muhammad bin 'Ali regarding wearing
a Ta'weedh. He replied: you have permission provided they are from the book of Allaah
or from the sayings of His beloved
. He also told me to obtain relief (cure) through it and also to
write it down.

VIRTUES OF PURIFICATION (Tazkiatun Nafs) Continued
Dhikrullaah, Jihaad ul Akbar
Hadrat Aboo Hurairah
has narrated that the beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa
Muhammad
said: There are 7 kinds of people who Allaah
keeps under His Shade, one of these is the one who does the
dhikr of Allaah and bursts into tears from His Awe and Fear. (Saheeh Bukhaaree).
Hadrat Aboo Moosaa
has narrated
that the beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
said: The example of a person engaged in the dhikr of Allaah and
the one neglectful of it is as between (the one who is) alive and (the one who is) dead.
(Saheeh Bukhaaree)
Tafseer Salaatul Wustaa, Dhikrud Dawaam (The Middle Salaat, Perpetual Dhikr)
Our beloved and most revered Shaikh Hadrat Aboo Anees Muhammad Barkat 'Ali, Quddus Allaahus Sirruhul 'Azeez, has written in his book "Ta'leemud Deen":
Another tafseer of Salaatul Wustaa is to consider oneself in the
state of salaat in between two salaats and keep oneself occupied in the dhikr of Allaah
.
Dhikrud dawaam in reality is salaatud dawaam. Out of the adhkaar
(plural of dhikr) mentioned in this publication, adopt which ever is in your destiny.
Although every muslim has already received permission to adopt any dhikr, however to
obtain permission from someone is a source of blessing and steadfastness. Although the
essence of dhikr is: Laa Ilaaha Illallaahu, Allaahu, Allaahu. Allaahu. Hoo Hoo, it
is not possible for a common person to breathe this dhikr perpetually. Instead: Subhaanallaah
Subhaanallaah is indeed an excellent replacement, will take you to your highest goal.
This is the greatly venerable kalimah which Allaah
taught to those in the heavens. When Allaah
created His Throne and commanded the angels to lift it, they
could not lift it. He
said: I will teach you a great
and weighty Kalimah which is: Subhaanallaah. When the angels said "Subhaanallaah",
the "'Arsh" (Throne) became erect. Since then the Tasbeeh of the
angels has been Subhaanallaah Subhaanallaah. There after, on the day of questioning
{When Allaah asked the souls of the entire human kind the question: "Alastu bi
Rabbikum" (Am I not your Lord?)}, the beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa
Maulaanaa Muhammad
taught all the creation of Allaah
which was present, the recitation: Subhaanallaah
Subhaanallaah. As such the lofty Kalimah, "Subhaanallaah" has an
ancient importance, no other Kalimah has. Its regular use will destroy the laziness
of your body and its "Noor" (Light) will make every artery and vein of
yours its home, InshaAllaah Ta'laa.
. So say:
"Subhaanallaah,
Subhaanallaah" and line up strings of
"Subhaanallaah", strings which can never be broken and will never be broken,
which will remain steady and strong from the Farsh to the 'Arsh (the floor to the Throne)
"Subhaanallaah".
Any friend who does the dhikr: "Laa ilaaha illallaah" with
his breath, should do it the following way (and this is the initial stage): With the nasal
exhalation should be recited "Laaaaa I laaaahaaa" (There is no god) and
with inhalation, illallaaaaaah (But Allaah). This should be done numerous times, as
long as there is breath in the body and breath after breath. This Kalimah: Laa ilaaha
illallaah is the beginning. If Allaah
wills it will
grow, it will flower and it will carry you to your destination. It will purify your heart
,and reveal to you the reality of this temporal and unstable world. Hence you will become
disinterested and detached from it and it will become repulsive for you. Every thing
contained in it will become worthless and despicable in your eyes. It will bring you
closer to the One you are seeking, which is Allaah
Who
is Eternal. Everlasting peace will become your destiny. Do the dhikr of your Beloved,
knowing Him to be present and a Witness just as a slave would express his powerlessness
and humility in the presence of his king. Your present condition and your physical hard
work cannot take you any where, because it is not based on the real. Who ever did the
dhikr of Allaah
thinking He is on the Throne, he has
not recognized the One and Only worthy of worship; neither has he done His dhikr fully.
The Worshipped and you the worshipper are indeed face to face. The highest of all is the
dhikr Laa ilaaha illallaah. Remember Him through this dhikr and this is the
dhikr which is liked by Allaah more than every other dhikr and it is in this dhikr that
there is His pleasure. Therefore, the seeking power and the effect that is present in this
Kalimah is not present in any other. The apparent meaning
of "Laa ilaaha illallaah" is: there is no god (worthy of worship) but
Allaah
. The hidden (inner) meaning is: There is no
existence except that of Allaah
. Every existence is
from the existence of Allaah
and apart from Him there
is no existence of any thing by itself. The existence of every thing that exists is from
Allaah
and except Allaah
-nothing else has its own existence, neither does anything
have any power whatsoever over anything except by the command of Allaah
and Allaah's command has been in force for ever. This does
not mean every thing is Allaah
. What this means is that
there is Allaah
in every thing and every thing in all
conditions is helpless, powerless, subjugated and dependent upon Allaah
.Every object subsists and exists by the Noor (Divine Light)
of Allaah
. There is Allaah in every object of the
Universe and there is no object without Allaah
. Just as
in the presence of the king no slave dares to act freely, similarly, the seeker who
accepts and knows that Allaah
is present and a witness,
does not dare disobey. (Extract from the work "Ta' leemud Deen" by our
Grand Shaikh, Hadrat Aboo Anees Muhammad Barkat 'Ali Quddus Allaahus Sirruhul
'Azeez. Pages 47-49).
For those of us who take Tazkiatun nafs seriously, the dhikr mentioned above and the way it is done as described above is indispensable. May we receive Allaah's Taufeeq, to comprehend the immense value of this eternally great dhikr and let no breath go by without it, Ameen. To be continued Inshaallaah Ta'laa.

Hadrat Aboo Dardaa
narrates that
in a mosque in Damascus, a person came to him and said: I have come from Madeenah
Munawwarah to learn a Hadeeth from you. I have been told that you narrate it. I have come
for no other purpose. Hadrat Aboo Dardaa
said: I have heard
the beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
say: The person who travels
in search of knowledge, Allaah takes him to the road of Paradise and for the pleasure of
the searcher of knowledge the angels spread their wings and for the 'Aalim (scholar),
residents of the heavens, the earth and the fish in the water, they all seek forgiveness
for him. The superiority of scholar over an 'aabid (devoted worshipper) is like that of
the full moon over all the stars. Without doubt scholars are the successors of the
Prophets. Aboo Dawood.
The beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
has said: A person who leaves his home searching for
knowledge, is in the path of Allaah
till he returns. Tirmidhee
Shareef.
Hadrat Shaikh Muhammad Ilyaas Qaadree, Muddazilluhoo, from whose
Book "Faidaan-i-Sunnah" we have quoted the above Ahaadeeth, writes: " My
dear muslim brothers, it is clear from both the above quoted Ahaadeeth that to travel for
acquiring knowledge (of the Deenul Islaam) is the sunnah of our revered elders. These pure
and illustrious people used to travel in times of such difficulties when journeys were
undertaken on camels, horses and even walking and it took many months to reach their
destinations. Now a days journeys of months can be completed within days and even hours.
Our beloved elders inspite of great difficulties, possessed the spirit to leave their
homes in the path of Allaah
and overcome all obstacles
in their pursuit of Sunnah, with equanimity and determination. A time has come when such
enterprising spirit is shown in pursuit of the dunyaa and its riches; homes, parents,
wives and children are willingly left behind.
May the following Ahaadeeth Mubaarakah enliven our spirits once again to go out in search of the knowledge of the Deenul Islaam, Aameen:
The beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
has said: To look at the faces of parents is 'Ibaadah
(worship), to gaze at the Holy Ka'bah is 'Ibaadah and to look at the face of an 'Aalim is
the essence of all 'I baadahs. Tadhkiratul Waa'izeen.
Hadrat 'Abdullaah bin Mas'ood
has narrated that the beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
told him: O Ibn Mas'ood, your sitting in the Halaqah of Dars in
such a way that you neither touch a pen nor write a word is for you better than giving
freedom to 1000 slaves and to look at the face of an 'Aalim is better than giving 1000
horses for the pleasure of Allaah
,To greet an 'Aalim
with salaam is better for you than 1000 years of 'Ibaadah. Tadhkiratul Waa'izeen.
Hadrat 'Abdullaah ibn 'Umar
has
narrated that a person presented himself in the honorable presence of the beloved of
Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
and asked:
Is an 'Aalim better or a devout worshipper? The beloved of Allaah
smiled and replied: O person, at your question even the angels
will be surprised because in Allaah's consideration, a lazy 'Aalim is better than 70,000
diligent worshippers who wake up in the night and perform salaah the whole night and fast
the whole day. Tadhkiratul Waa'izeen.
Hadrat Abul Laith Samarqandee
,
the renowned Faqeeh has said: A person who sits in the company of an 'Aalim, whether he
has the ability to acquire knowledge or not, will still receive 7 virtues:

VIRTUES OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF FIQH AND SHARI'AH (Continued)
Tahaarah (Cleanliness)
What is Purification?
After the Holy Prophet Muhammad
had
been appointed to his mission of Prophethood and commanded to propagate the Message of
Allaah
, the first duty enjoined on him after the
doctrine of Tauheed was to purify himself. . . . "And purify yourself" (74:4)
This Quraanic command was meant to impress that he should purify his heart and soul of all
impurities of belief and creed and his dress and body of all kinds of filth, defilement
and uncleanness unsavory to good taste as well as to the Shari'ah.
The Quraan has time and again impressed the great importance of
personal purification, so much so that it declares "Allaah
likes those people who like to keep themselves pure".
(9 :108) "Most surely Allaah
loves those people
who refrain from evil and keep themselves pure and clean". (2: 222)
The Holy Prophet
has presented by his
personal example the highest sense and level of purification and fine taste. He
has impressed its great importance over and over again on the
Muslim community as well. He
is reported to have said:
"Purification is one half of the Faith".
He
has enjoined cleanliness and given
detailed instructions about the ways of achieving it and demonstrated practically how to
keep oneself neat and clean at all times.
It is, therefore, binding on every muslim to know, understand and follow the injunctions to keep his inner and outer self clean and pure. In the following pages, the external impurities affecting the body and clothes will be discussed and ways and means given to cleanse them.
It must be borne in mind at the outset that the only criterion of
cleanliness and uncleanness is the Divine Law (Shari'ah); one cannot make any change or
alteration in it on the basis of one's personal taste, good sense or temperament. Anything
that has been declared lawful, clean and pure by the Shari'ah is certainly lawful, clean
and pure, and whatever it has declared as unlawful, unclean and impure is absolutely so.
Then, purity is certainly deemed to have been obtained by the ways and means that the
Shari'ah has prescribed and enjoined for the purpose; devising one's own ways and
standards of obtaining purity after one's personal tastes, whims and temperamental
inclinations will only help create unnecessary doubts and render the straight-forward,
natural and simple Shari'ah of Allaah
complicated and
difficult to follow. Not only that: it will deprive one of the true understanding of the
Religion of Allaah
, involve one in undue hardships, and
as a result drive one further and ever further away from the Right Way.
WHAT IS IMPURITY? Every kind of filth, pollution or defilement which rendered clean things unclean and dirty, is termed Impurity, described comprehensively by the Arabic word Najasat. Let us first learn the nature of the state of impurity, its kinds and how to cleanse oneself of various impurities.
Kinds of Impurity
The impurity may be of two kinds: Impurity in Fact (Najasat Haqiqi) and Impurity in Effect (Najasat Hukmiyah). Both the kinds have been treated separately by the Shari'ah and each has separate ways of being cleansed.
Impurity in Fact (Najasat Haqiqi)
It is that impurity which one temperamentally detest, abhors and avoids. The Shari'ah too has enjoined to keep oneself clean and pure of it. This kind includes urine, excrement, semen, blood, etc. It has further two kinds: Grave Impurity (Ghalizah) and Ordinary Impurity (Khafifah).
Grave Impurity
This includes all those impurities which are so beyond any doubt or suspicion, which are detested by human nature and are likewise disapproved by the Shari'ah, too. In view of their serious nature, the Shari'ah has strictly enjoined that these should be scrupulously shunned and avoided at all times. This kind comprises the following:
1. The pig, living or dead, and all it's products.
2. Human urine, excrement, semen, prosthetic fluid, animal semen, and excrement of human babies.
3. Blood, whether of man or animal.
4. Mouthful of vomit, whether of an adult or child.
8. Menstrual and postpartum blood.
6. Vaginal fluid.
7. Blood, pus or serum flowing or oozing out of wounds.
8. Sweat and saliva of the animals whose left-over is unclean.
9. Flesh, fat, tissue and untanned skin which has died its natural death or been killed without being slaughtered in the prescribed
way, excluding those parts of its body which do not have circulating blood, e.g., horns, teeth, hoofs, feathers, etc.
10. Milk of the unlawful animal, living or dead, and milk of the lawful dead animal.
11. Watery fluid oozing out of carrion of an animal having circulating blood.
12. Any kind of extract or product of an unclean thing.
13. Urine and dung or waste matter dropped by all domestic animals including poultry and wild beasts, except of birds.
14. Liquor and other intoxicants in liquid form.
16. Skin of the snake.
16. Saliva of a dead person.
17. Blood of the martyr which has dropped from his body.
Ordinary Impurity (Khafifah)
Things whose impurity is deemed to be slight and ordinary in the eyes of the Shari'ah are as follows:
2. Waste matter dropped by unlawful birds like the crow, kite, hawk, etc., excreta of the bat, however, is not impure.
Note: Any mixture in whatever ratio or proportion of a grave impurity with an ordinary impurity is deemed to be grave.
To be continued Insha Allaah Ta'laa.

ESSENTIAL ADVICE FROM Hadrat Shaikh Aboo Anees Muhammad Barkat 'Ali QuddusAllaahus Sirruhul 'Azeez
Character (Continued)
A jealous person cannot be a well wisher of any one. Every one is jealous of every one else and it is because of the curse of
jealousy that he is an ill wisher of every one. The indelible captions of your history emerged because of jealousy; they are
emerging and they will continue to emerge.
The place of unity and self sacrifice in the process of nation building is not in any other character trait. Develop this trait of
character within yourself. Become like you are all one life and then live like one family. To be continued InshaAllaah Ta'ala

ordered me
to love the needy and be close to them. And he
ordered me
that I should look at those who are less fortunate than I am and that should not look at
those who are higher (more fortunate) than I am. And he
ordered me to preserve the ties of relatives even though the relatives themselves may
break them. And he ordered me not to ask for anything from anyone. And he
ordered me to tell the truth even if it is harsh. And he
ordered me not to fear disparagement in the process of "Amr

ordered me to recite "Laa Haula walaa Quwwata Illaa

The Blessed Names of the Gracious and generous Prophet .
Hadrat Shaikh Aboo Anees Muhammad Barkat 'Ali, QuddusAllaahus
Sirruhul 'Azeez has compiled in his above monumental work, 1,600 blessed names of the
beloved of Allaah, Hadrat Sayyidinaa wa Maulaanaa Muhammad
.
Shaikh Tosun Bayrak al-Jerrahi al-Halveti in his book "The Most Beautiful
Names" under the section of the Names of The Prophet
writes so beautifully with reference to the famous Hadeeth "If
you do not love me more than everything else you have, your faith is not complete":
First is the wish, which can only be obtained through knowing him, through knowing his
beautiful names, through finding a trace of these attributes in your own selves, through
praying for him and for his blessings (Durood), through following his path and his
example. Then, if Allaah
wills, you will be blessed
with his love, and in return, you will love him and find Paradise in this world and in the
Hereafter.
